Changes to GetCheckedOnline test results are coming

Addition of positive test results
Currently we do not show any positive results in GetCheckedOnline, but we are going to expand the types of results that are shown to include positive and unclear results.
If you have used GetCheckedOnline in the past, the results shown in your testing history will not change.
Test results will be shown immediately in your account
Currently, test results are only shown once results for all tests have been entered. After this change is introduced you will see your results as they are entered into your account.
You will still receive an email message once all your test results are entered and we haven’t changed how we will contact you about positive test results. (Read more about this below).
Your privacy
Your test results are never attached to your full identity but instead use your unique GetCheckedOnline code. We have more information about how your privacy is protected on our Privacy FAQs.

When your test results are ready, you will get an email telling you to sign in to your account. The email will not include your test results. Results will show on your Tests and Results page until the next time you create a lab form. After your next lab form, you can see all of your past tests and test dates on your Testing History page.
We are not able to email or print you a copy of your test results. You can access your results from your online account, or you can contact the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) STI clinic to speak with a nurse over the phone.
What if my results are negative?
Negative results will show on your ‘Tests and Results’ and ‘Testing History’ pages. A negative result means that no STIs were detected by the tests. However, if you test too soon after coming in contact with an STI (during the “window period”), it may not be detected by the test. If you tested too soon, we recommend that you test again.
What if there was a problem with my sample?
Lab errors happen from time to time. If there was a
problem with one or more of your samples, you will see a message to call the BCCDC STI clinic.
You won’t see a result in this case because the lab could not test your sample(s). The clinic nurse will explain what happened and what you need to do next.
What if my results are positive?
If any of your test results are
positive or inconclusive, you will see a message to call the BCCDC STI clinic. Positive results are not stored in GetCheckedOnline and will never be shown on your Tests and Results page.
Positive test results are shared with public health to make sure that you and your partners are offered treatment and support. A nurse at the BCCDC STI clinic will contact you by phone or by email. The message will never include what you tested for, or what your results are. The nurse will explain your results over the phone, where you can go for treatment or additional testing, and can help you plan any follow-up. The nurse will also ask about your sexual partners and talk with you about letting your partners know to get tested and treated.
Positive results are stored in secure databases in the provincial laboratory system and as part of your electronic health care record.
If you have ever tested positive for syphilis or hepatitis C, it is likely that future tests will be positive even if you have already been treated for syphilis or hepatitis C. This is because antibodies to syphilis / hepatitis C are still present in your blood.
What if I don’t get an email or phone call in 14 days?
Your results should be ready within 14 days. If you do not see results or a message on your ‘Tests and Results’ page after 14 days, contact the BCCDC STI clinic during
business hours to speak with a nurse.There may be a problem with your test or we have not been able to reach you.
